Kang Han Combat & Martial Arts Academy is owned by Grandmaster Ian Lennox,  8th Dan and member of British Taekwondo's martial arts technical team.  In November 2014,  Grandmaster Lennox became British Taekwondo's first British-born person to achieve the title of Grandmaster.

Beginning in 1999, the name of the club was chosen by the children who trained there. The students were asked to pick a Korean word that they believed represented the club, Kang Han was chosen and  means 'strong as in powerful'. Following  years of training at various locations, in 2009 the club took out a long term lease at its current venue at 197 Beardall street, Hucknall.  Since 1999 the club has expanded to offer a wider range of sports to the community, such as boxing, gymnastics and mixed martial arts. In addition to this Kang Han has endorsed the opening of alternative Kang Han clubs in the area, including in Ravenshead, Mansfield, Lowdham and at Nottingham Trent university.

On average, over 300 people use the facility each week, where training for all ages and abilities is provided, as well as support for both able bodied and disabled members with physical and mental impairments.

Clubmark

Clubmark is an accreditation scheme for community sport clubs ran by Sport England. It aims to ensure the nations sport club infrastructure is safer, stronger and more successful, in addition to standing for higher standards of welfare, equality, coaching and management in community sport clubs.

 An accredited club is recognised  as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages,  as an environment that prioritises the welfare of members, and encourages participants to enjoy sport and sustain an active lifestyle. 

Kang Han Combat and Martial Arts Academy became only the fourth taekwondo club to achieve this fantastic recognition, following Quest, Koryo and Ultimate Taekwondo.
